What’s My Name?
My two-year old daughter has recently started calling me ‘Mommy Jeff’ and my husband ‘Daddy Jeff’. I often wonder what people are thinking in the grocery store when my daughter cries out, “Look, Mommy Jeff!”
Let me explain…my daughter likes the Wiggles and her favorite wiggle is Jeff. I think she likes him best because he wears a purple shirt. For those of you who don’t know, the Wiggles are children’s entertainers who sing and dance and do any number of fun and silly things.
So, as odd as it is at times to be called ‘Mommy Jeff”, I know Grace is expressing her creativity by playing around with names. And I want to encourage creativity in my child and so do you!
Let your child’s imagination run wild and help them be creative by modeling it for them. Make up funny names or sing silly songs…it will build their creative thinking skills and besides that, it’s fun!
